Elastos is the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, employing not only blockchain technology, but a peer-to-peer network for communication, decentralized data storage services, and a decentralized ID system for all digital assets.

elastOS Browser

elastOS is the entrance to all that the Elastos ecosystem has to offer. The proposition is simple: whether you are looking for hash power from Bitcoin, decentralized storage, a P2P communication layer, or your own blockchain, Elastos provides the services to help you build decentralized applications with modern scalability, security, and access to essential features like Ethereum-compatible smart contracts.

An application browser that can utilize the full suite of Elastos tools.
elastOS integrates all the services provided by Elastos and combines them into a whole API interface framework for DApp developers to get started easily. It uses Elastos Carrier to enable truly anonymous peer-to-peer communication, and the Elastos Mainchain and its DID Sidechain to authenticate and verify services for users, apps, and devices for a totally secure environment.

A secure application environment.
elastOS runs on the user’s equipment to achieve a “reliable runtime environment.” By developing Elastos dApps, independent developers can use digital assets such as digital audio and video playback. VM guarantees digital assets will run under blockchain control, providing users with the ability to consume and invest in digital content. A single place to deal with crypto (wallet), manage a decentralized user identity, run ethereum smart contracts, and transport network data in a decentralized way (carrier).

  • Operating System
elastOS is quite similar to the desktop of your computer. When you launch your windows or mac system, the very same way that is populated with default applications like “calculator, calendar” the elastOS is the browser/desktop of the Elastos SmartWeb. It’s the place you go to download and use all your dApps.
  • The SmartWeb Vision
A SmartWeb has its own DIDs, browsers, micro-websites, and instant mini-apps, but no explicit IP addresses, nor communication protocols. This prevents any network attacks or third party apps from stealing user data. This is what elastOS can do for users and developers. All user and application data on elastOS will be bound to the user’s DID, and the data itself will be stored on a decentralized storage system.
  • Secure from Web Threats
A high-performance, secure sandbox for dApps. Network traffic is restricted through the Elastos Carrier network only, thus realizing a truly decentralized network that is resistant to attack.
  • Easy App Development
An official framework built on Ionic and bundled with SDKs, plugins, and a built-in app browser for speedy dApp development.
  • A Sandbox Environment
A sandbox environment guarantees digital assets will run under blockchain control, providing users with the ability to consume and invest in digital content. A network isolation and digital rights management system, so dApp developers do not have to deal with tedious data security issues.
  • Decentralized
Simple, user-friendly APIs port existing apps to the Elastos Ecosystem. A wide variety of services continue to be augmented by partners and the Cyber Republic initiative.

Advantages Over Native DApps.
Main advantage over native dApps is that it creates a full environment for dApp collaboration by providing decentralized wallet, decentralized identity (DIDs), and download as built-in features. By having these features built-in, inter-app communication mechanisms allow developers to seamlessly manage ELA wallets, DIDs, and QR code scanning from their dApps. Developers can safely rely on other dApps to handle what would otherwise be tedious tasks, while they focus their efforts on just building their application logic. With these abilities, third party apps never see an end user’s ELA, DID, or private keys.

Developer Content.
Inter-app communication mechanisms–intents to talk to other dApps inside elastOS and also to native apps: request a payment, scan a QR code, get a DID’s information + open another dApp. Standard Cordova plugins: battery status, camera, device motion, dialogs, geolocation, media capture, network information, QR scanner. Elastos plugins: App manager, Carrier, DID, Hive, Wallet.

Core Services

  • P2P Network (Carrier)
A Decentralized Peer-to-Peer Network. Fully decentralized and serverless, all communication will run through P2P Carrier’s network of nodes.
  • Decentralized Identity (DID)
A Decentralized Identifier refers to an ID that can be issued by an autonomous, independent, and decentralized platform that acts as a proof of ownership.
  • Decentralized Storage (Hive)
A basic service infrastructure that provides decentralized storage capabilities to Apps. Store your applications using Hive and make your data totally decentralized.
  • Main Blockchain (Mainchain)
It handles the trust zone for the entire network. In parallel, Elastos provides services and extends third-party applications through the Sidechains.
  • Smart Contracts + Scalability (Sidechains)
Elastos implements a unique solution for its core blockchain technology. Called Sidechains, these independent blockchains have a very specific purpose.
  • Token + Currency (ELA)
ELA is the base currency used for processing peer-to-peer payments, storing info on the DID Sidechain and executing smart contracts on ETH and NEO Sidechains.
